Information Technology
Whether you are providing
or purchasing IT products and services, good contractual documents are
essential. The main legal terms are only part of it, carefully thought out
Service Level Agreements and Service Credit arrangements can all help to avoid
future disputes, particularly by regulating customer expectations.
Disputes over whether or
not the solution supplied complies with the specification agreed, benefit no
one. Costs can quickly mount up, particularly where the project documentation
make it difficult to identify just what was agreed. Comprehensive development
contracts that properly link to specifications, and a carefully thought out
change control procedure, can all help to avoid these kinds of disputes
arising.
Whilst working in-house
at the RSPCA, Julia Wylie worked closely with the charity’s Information Systems
Department. In particular, Julia advised on the major projects involving the
re-development of the RSPCA’s award winning website and the procurement of
complex IT and telecoms equipment for the RSPCA’s new headquarters. Please see
‘Client Comments’ for comments from the RSPCA’s Head of Information Systems.
